timemachine is on a distinguished road
It really was a beautiful day and a great show with many, many fine cars, easily 150 or more. Rick, Adam, Roger and myself got a lot of attention and questions about the Opels. Don't you love it when someone walks up and tells you he's sure GM offered a V6 in these machines like he's an expert? Rick was very diplomatic with the guy.

I met a lot of nice people though including a few Hemmings readers who came over to check out my car and the others. One older fellow came over with a bunch of racing stories including how Mantas used to dust his Scirocco in SCCA. Take that Adam.

I met another guy with an unbelievable and super rare BMW 2000tii (touring/international/injected) hatchback, a perfect ground up resto that won best bimmer at the show. He wanted a picture of our cars together because when he first took it out to show this year in South Carolina a guy came up to him and asked if his car was an "Oh-pell." So he named his car Opel.

I think events like this help the community, plus it was just a good time on a great day in the shade so we should build on it. I didn't take many pics but will post a few. I'm sure Rick will post the giant bird crap hit on my car, purple on yellow, looked like a Jackson Pollack painting. As you'd expect, he set me up for the pic as I was returning with my breakfast.

Like the others say, July 13, 2008. Mark your calendars.

Jim
