How is this for an idea, if Rick is up to it? Rick, order a new donut, support bushings and a rear pinion seal. The ones in there are over 30 yrs old so even if this isn't the culprit, his rear axle gets a nice refreshing. We just need someone with the "star" tool for the 4 bolts which hold the torque tube to the rear axle. I would suggest replacing these bolts with metric stainless steel hex heads.

If this doesn't fix it, then the only other things I can think of is the center bearing(rare) or U-joint on the driveshaft(possible). I only had one of those go bad on me and that was on a '74 Manta Luxus.
