Early Kadett Rallye
The 1967 Kadett Rallye here has an low engine number - 11SR 00034xx
and a chassis number well below the '67 1/2 start number - 32 10906xx
('67 1/2 start number is 32 1239547)
So I believe that twin carb 11SR motors were fitted to leaf rear spring Model 32 Kadetts in early 1967 or even late 1966 when the first Kadett Rallyes appeared. Mine certainly has all the "Rallye" fitments including the long range driving lights, Rallye badges on the dash and front guards and the extra gauges on a panel that reaches from the dash down to the driveshaft tunnel. Plus the black "Rallye" paint stripes.
I was told by the previous owner of mine that the first 5,000 were released to the public as Rally cars - certainly mine was imported here to participate in local "international" Rallys. I still have the Left-Hand-Drive exemption papers that were required to allow it to be driven on the public roads that Rallys were held on.
Have a sneaking suspicion that some later USA Kadett Wagons which where fitted with 11SR motors as options may well have had the "Rallye" pack fitted too - maybe even by the individual Sales outlets.
