Kadett 11SR engine use

So I believe that twin carb 11SR motors were fitted to leaf rear spring Model 32 Kadetts in early 1967 or even late 1966 when the first Kadett Rallyes appeared. Mine certainly has all the "Rallye" fitments including the long range driving lights, Rallye badges on the dash and front guards and the extra gauges on a panel that reaches from the dash down to the driveshaft tunnel. Plus the black "Rallye" paint stripes.

I was told by the previous owner of mine that the first 5,000 were released to the public as Rally cars - certainly mine was imported here to participate in local "international" Rallys. I still have the Left-Hand-Drive exemption papers that were required to allow it to be driven on the public roads that Rallys were held on.

Have a sneaking suspicion that some later USA Kadett Wagons which where fitted with 11SR motors as options may well have had the "Rallye" pack fitted too - maybe even by the individual Sales (dealer) outlets.
Later year wagons perhaps, but, here in the US, the 11SR (9.2CR) engine was only offered in the 1969 wagon, actually required for the 1.1 A/T cars, also only offered that year!

It should also be noted that the 1966-67 11 and 11S engines had CRs of 7.8 and 8.8 respectively, while all the '68-up 11x and '67½-up 11SR engines had 8.2 and 9.2 CRs. Furthermore, the 11SR engines were only offered during '67½, '69 and '70!

As far as "dealer" installation of Rallye options on a '69 11SR wagon go, I seriously doubt it as the Rallye wiring loom is different from the 'standard' with red/white wiring from the starter's 'Battery' connection to the 'source' side of the ammeter required, something only Rallyes had from the factory . . . this is NOT!! simple to duplicate, trust me!

Anyway, 'dealer' alteration of primary 'factory' wiring on a brand new car would've most certainly voided any Opel warranty.
