it is a 1.9L the fuel injected one sold in the U.S.

On our 1975 Manta the fuel starvation was because of a clogged fuel sock inside the gas tank. The tank was full of sludge. We had to remove the tank, remove the fuel sock from the inside, have the tank boiled. Then put on an external fuel filter to replace the fuel sock.
