So you can have a second dipstick, of course. And if you get an oil pan with a dipstick in it, you can have a third. It's like winning the lottery!!
OK, so I'm being fecetious but the extra hole really is for a dipstick but not on your car. It is used if the oil pan reservior is in the front of the engine. I have never seen a front reservoir pan and don't know what car would take it but I was told they exist a long, long time ago.
