Great info! I will look into that. It was one of those things that FSM never even touch base on.
As far as getting the glass out of the metal piece it attaches to at the front of the window, I started by heating the strip up to hopefully soften the adhesive. Next I took a putty knife and tried to run it up and down in between the glass and the metal part and get as much of the adhesive out as I could. (both the inner and outer sides of the 1/4 window. And then a steady pull the window came on out. Guess I got lucky, I was 2 for 2.
Then to get the aluminum trim off was when I said, after surveying the situation..."What the heck........!!!!!!!! The foot long hinge kept the trim (which is just held in place with more black adhesive junk) from being able to be removed!
