I thought the problem was with the speedo that was in the car so I removed it and bench tested it and it worked okay but it did seem a bit 'jerky'.
I had another speedo and this is the one I installed.
You mentioned a number. Is this the number on the face that starts like
W=
The one I have in the car now has a different number than the one I removed.
