Actually it is a light blue/white(could pass as green) wire that is joined to the black wire on the coil + side. This wire is part of the charging circuit/indicator light and drove me nuts trying to find it in the dash area on my Ascona.
My car had several colors that started as factory colors and ended up as something else. But that is all over now since I rewired the complete car and got all circuits to work.

He had a big problem
His GT steering wheel was attached to his "groin" (well it was attached to something sticking out from his groin, if you know what I mean)
I asked him what on earth was he doing with the wheel there?
He said, "I do not know arrgh all I know is it is driving me nuts!! arrgh"
I will check the wires again and take a pic to show you posting it next time
