I believe that another option is to buy a factory CIH 2.4 "short block" and install either a 2.0 head or a 1.9 head (preferably with bigger valves). This allows you to use the original intake options (downdraft with two bbl carb, SSD or DSD manifold with Single or Dual Side Draft carbs, or '75 EFI). You lose some of the advantage of the higher flowing 2.4 head, but some or all of that can be regained with porting and big valves in the smaller head.
