Unanswered: Keep popping the 7127 AC Delco alternator Internal regulator... help.
![]() in hopes that you can see what i'm doing here. Anyways, in a nutshell - I ran a wire from the starter to the relay, which, when key is on, switches the circuit closed to put 12volts into the sensor wire. Meanwhile, the red wire on the alternator just doubles back to the battery charge post. i WOULD use the blue with white stripe wire, but it was putting out aweak 7 volts and wasn't reliable enough to run that sensor on. ran the car with that same diagram for almost a full year. Switched out motors and i have popped the alternator twice now. wondering what the hell is going on. doing some research anD: ![]() a diagram for homemade generators...using the same model alternator.

O.K. one more time. The blue white wire is only to sense a minimal amount of voltage to regulate the internal regulator's output voltage. It normally only takes about 4 volts to get the alternator to work. The ammeter lite has voltage on one side from the battery and voltage from the other side from the alternator's voltage regulator. The difference in voltage through the lite is what tells the alternator regulator how many amps/volts to put out. By putting a full 12 volts to the regulator you are overloading it. HTH.
