Unanswered: Normal Ammeter Reading

what should my ammeter read at when the car is running 72 1900 motor mine reads 0 when i give gas and turn onmy lights any thoughts

With the lights on and at idle, my ammeter reads slightly below zero. Giving it some gas raises that back slightly above the zero mark.

Matt's alternator was upgraded to the '75 model 45 amp unit. Your alternator is still probably the original 35 amp unit.

Good question.
My GT has a GM 63amp alternator.
Mine reads +10 after starting, then drops slowly back to slightly above 0.
With lights and A/C on it reads +10.
Not sure what normal reading is.
