Unanswered: Passenger side alternator bracket

Hello All!
Before I start hammering a bracket out of heavy steel to put my alternator on the passenger side, I thought I might just put this out and see if some one has done this before.

I have A/C on my GT, but the compressor was too much of a tight fit on the passenger side due to the size of the under drive pulley I am using. So I installed the compressor unit on the driver's side and I plan to put a Nippon alternator on the passenger side.

I mocked up a bracket out of light gauge metal and seems to work just fine, just minor interference with the oil filter. Has anyone done this before and most important, does anyone have a drawing of a bracket for this application?

Juan. A variation of bracket I fabbed for my sanyo should work for a small alternator down low on the passengers side. I think the GT engine is the same down there. Drawings included.

Lightbulb Pass-side alternator brackets

Here's mine in my '72 2.4FI GT . . . a LOT LESS room in general here than in all other models!!!

. . . and one in my '69 sprint Kadett LS . . .

. . . both use a much-modified '68/'69 CIH cast iron air pump bracket (anti smog) . . .

The deed is done!

Hello All!

First of all, I would like to thank all that provided some input into this stage of my project.

I ended up fabricating a bracket and now my alternator sits nice and lo on the passenger side. The compressor is now on the driver's side and it looks awsome at its new location.

Enjoy the step pics from angle to bracket.
