Unanswered: intermittent alternator

I am experinceing intermitent charging from my altenator.Iwonder if any one can explain this? When driving my ampmetere will jump from -2to 15 amps about every 5 to 15 seconds. At night due to an old battery the lights go from dim to bright. Im sure people on the freeway love it. BTW I know my spelling and punctuation sucks!

wow, that sounds like regulator problems. Check your belt tensions and conditions too. Good and tight..... Excellent. A good parts store might do a quick check of your charging system. Especially if you tell them it's intermittent and you'll be buying the replacement parts there.

Funny you should mention that, My GT was doing it too. Alternator, regulator all check out and it bounced back and forth. Turned out to be an odd issue, The brush lube on the alternator would stick if it was cold at all. Causing them to stick and ya I think my neighbors enjoyed the strobing headlights too.
