Unanswered: What is it?
on the alternator there was a black box that is bolted to the back of it with one wiring coming out of it...dont remember where the wire goes so that makes it even harder... on the part it says FK 216/12 made by BERU of Germany what is this for? do i need it? and if so where can i find another one? here is a pic of it

It is a capacitor to suppress interference signals in the voltage supply, and to flaten out the sinus waves of the altenator.
The black box is fixed on the + [plus] terminal and the wire on the - [minus] terminal of the altenator

you only need it if you want to have a radio/ tape player or cd player
![]() it takes the whine out of the electrics that come through the speakers and go up and down with the revs of the engine any auto parts shop or ICE place should have them if you have a clicking (points and spark plugs make a click ) then you need 1 on the dizzy too they can also get you home if you have points and the condenser dies as they work much the same way ,but will die quick
