Unhappy Unanswered: Engine Surging

I hope I've posted this in the correct forum. I've just completed the 7127 63 amp alternator upgrade. Lights are great now, and the alternator light works fine. Now my engine surges. Starts up faster than ever but, the rpms flutuate. I've tried adjusting the distributor but no change. I didn't remove the distributor when I installed the alternator, just turned it and put it back in the same spot. Just wondering if I need to readjust my weber since the new alternator has more amps? I was surprized it started at all since I never have much luck with anything electrical. The only thing I can think is that the GREMLIN is back from his vacation and didn't like me messing around when he was gone!! One last thing. It won't idle on it's own. I have to keep my foot on the gas ever so lightly, around 1000 rpms, to keep it idling

When you "turned it" you probably got the distributor out of time. You probably need to re time it and likely all will be well.

Cool

Nope! I marked the spot when I first moved it. Even moving it left or right the engine speed changes, but it still surges!!

Vacumn leak? Hit the brake - does it stall out?

Vacuum leak? When you turned the distributor could you have broken or disconnected one of the rubber connector hoses between the plastic vacuum hoses and the vacuum can on the distributor?
