Post Unanswered: 1.9 distributor

Have a 71 Opel Gt with 1.9 L engine and manual transmission. Will the distributor Bosch casing # 0 231 167 038 for a 1971 1.9 L engine and automatic transmission interchange?

Yes. The only difference is the lighter springs in the advance mechanism on the automatic version to help with engine acceleration.

Dumb question time. So this would be of an advantage on a mildly "hopped up engine" ? Thanks, Jarrell

A little bit. Although any stock distributor can be 'recurved' to get the desired performance for a modified engine.

Do I have to upgrade 73 distributor with FI

Hello I am installing the 1975 FI in my 73 Manta. Will I have to fuss with the distrbutor at all? I notice in 75 they used a retard only distributor.

You will need a mechanical advance distributor from a 75 EFI engine.
