Unanswered: Ignition lock and cylinder

I've been looking for an igntion lock and cylinder with keys for my 1973 Opel GT for some time and have had no success. Even a steering column with the lock and keys would do. Is anybody out there taking apart a 1973 Opel GT?

The problem started when I left the car at the mechanic's to get the heater fixed. When I went to pick it up, they had lost the keys!!! So I had to jump start it. Luckily, I found a place that made keys. So I dismounted the lock and cylinder and sent it away to have the keys made. After remounting the lock and cylinder, I have had problems with the steering wheel locking while I'm driving!!! So I took it apart again and it looks like a "spring" in the cylinder broke when I first took it apart or when they made the new keys. . . I'm not sure.

Keep an eye on e-bay. They show up periodically and hopefully the seller is willing to ship internationally.

Try Suselbeek

Try Patrick in Holland - check this thread for a link to his website:

Or try Denis at OpelGTSource in California:

Or even another European site:

Thanks for the advise. I have been watching e-bay and will keep checking there.

I tried Suselbeek in Holland back in May. I placed an order online because they had the ignition lock and cylinder in their online catalogue After a couple weeks when I didn't receive it, I sent them a fax. They answered in June saying that they would send it "soon". Then, they went on vacation in July and I was away in August. The middle of September, I sent them another fax and they answered that they were sorry but they didn't have the part!!!

I'll try Opel GT Source in California and Splendid Parts. Thanks!!
