Unanswered: Coil is getting hot

I have a 73 GT the PO replaced the resister wire to the coil and I think that is why my coil gets very hot in a short time but not for sure. I'm no electrician but I think I either have to replace the pos coil wire with a resister wire or change the coil to a resister coil? And is the clear resister wire the resister or is it hooked to a resister somewhere else?

The clear wire IS the resistor as you had guessed. If it doesn't have this then you will either need to change the coil to one that has an internal resistor or add a ballast resistor. Chrysler used them for years in their electronic ignition systems. They are relatively cheap and you just wire it in between the 12v source and your coil.

You can also get a 'Ballast" resistor for a GM car, they both do the same thing, drop the voltage down for the coil input voltage during the run cycle.
