    Testing the S-ECU Lite

First of all, I want to thank Charles for all his hard work, he was one of the guys that made this possible.

In order to test some of the new features of the Manager software, I created a portable crank trigger system. A little bit of machining by Pat did the trick. It is nothing more than a scaled down (2.5") Opel trigger wheel and a 1850 Rpm electric motor. I can spin the motor and see the crank sensor signals with the S-ECU, which can be used to check out the Manager software and fine tune a running application without an actual engine hooked up to it.

The preliminary S-ECU Lite is here

With all of the data we gathered using the SS4 Electronic distributor, our company has created a very small wasted spark ignition system for the Opel engine. It is currently under test and if all goes well, it will be available as a plug and play kit for your 1.9L engine.

The kit will include the following:

    1) An aluminum single groove pulley (double groove and serpentine also available at extra $$$).
    2) A 6.55" Opel specific 36-1 trigger wheel.
    3) A PC-2 crank sensor.
    4) A logic level, 4-bank ignition coil with plug wires.
    5) An S-ECU Lite with a ready made Opel Specific harness.
    6) Tuning software with 10 sample Opel ignition tables.
    7) Distributor plug with oil pump drive (Optional).

The target of this kit is for you to install and be able to drive your car within a couple of hours. Full step by step instructions done by Ivan (the crazy man) and will be a welcome addition to our product line.

If you want to buy the individual parts, or source some of them yourselves, individual items will be available for sale at the website.

    Juan,

So that we understand your systems better the S-ECU system you describe here requires the external crank trigger and aluminum pulley in order to trigger the system whereas the SS4 system uses a trigger internal to the distributor. Both systems will provide a wasted spark ignition system with the only difference being the S-ECU providing the added capability of managing a fuel injection setup if desired. Did I get this right?

We have not fully priced it out but it will be under the $300.00 mark complete.

Yes you do have it right, the SS4 is like the entry level system so you don't have to modify too much. But it is funny though, how many distributors out there measure load and temperature to get you the best curve, only mine I believe.
