Unanswered: Quad Taillights

Hi All,
I just got finished installing new taillights lenses on my GT. I decided to change the setup from the stock '73 lenses to all red lenses. I have the tail and brakelights on the outside lenses, and the turn signals on the inside lenses (see the pic below, I hope). I was thinking about putting double filament lens housings where the turn signals are now, and put 2 more taillights in. So, I was wondering if anyone has done this before, and if the stock wiring can handle 2 more taillights. Plus, if I use the standard, 2 filament bulb, then the turn signals will be using the heavier (and brighter) stop light filaments. Any problems w/ that?

I switched to 1156 and 1157 L.E.D. bulbs and damn are they bright. You might want to look into a set.

Chris,
What do the 1156/1157 LED lights cost?

Randy ,I have the four red lens in the rear of my GT and have painted the back panel black . I used the double sockets for all positions . This makes the rear look wider at night and easier to see. Brakes are in the center and turn signals in the outside position. I also have the turn and parking lights in the front parking light positions and removed the front turn lamps in the front grill .

I went with all red lenses in the back and I replaced ALL my lights with LED's - 4 inch in the back- front running lights- front turn signals. The only regular lights left are the rear Lady Bird lights and as soon as I can figure out a led for them, I will change them too. One added plus is that when the running lights are on, my alt shows less draw in the system. There are several excellant threads on this subject in the search engine

Breif Texas history- After Kennedy was assasinated, Lyndon B Johnson, his vice president from Texas became president of the US. Johnson's nick name for his wife was Lady Bird. Lady Bird was insrumental in influencing automotive safety because one of her relatives was either injured or killed in an auto accident (the car was T boned- urban legend? not sure ). She wanted better visability and illumination on the side of the automobiles so the federal government mandated side lights on motor vehicles. Here in Texas these side lights were affectionatly called Lady Bird lights. Even todays vehicles with the wrap around lights are still mandated to be visable from the side of the car. Hope this helps. Does any one remember the nickname for Johnson's two daughters- one was Lucy Bird but can't remember the second one.
