Unanswered: GT back up lights

Has anyone rewired Manta backup lights into a GT to give more visibility when in reverse? That puny little light at the bottom doesn't really do the trick. Doesn't seem it would be to difficult. If you have done it, was there any hidden obstacles or have any suggestions.

As long as you fit the correct wires to the correct bulbs, it should bolt right in.

I know people who have taken late 73 GT tail lights and converted them to the earlier style and visa versa. I even know of a Manta Owner coverting his tail lights over to the earlier GT style.

I like the early GT style because people see the brake lights much easier. I'd rather have people see my brake lights than my back up lights, but that is just me.

Jeff.

Rick;
What would work better is to go to your local parts store and get an inexpensive fog light and mount/wire it where the OEM light was. Even better is to get two of the fog lights and mount one under each back bumper and wire them in together. Just an idea.

i used to have a 7" round fog light with a 55w bulb under the bumper of my gt for reversing as i did not think the stock bulb was up to the job

Personally, I would wire something with that much amp draw with a relay. The original backup lite wire (18 gauge) may not handle that much draw with two fog lites.
