Unanswered: Hazard lights for alarm installation
I am thinking of installing an alarm to my Opel sometime during next month. I would like to have it flash the hazard lights when triggered. And here comes my question... By studying the wiring diagram of my Ascona B and the GT, I see that their flasher/hazard circuits are identical. The problem that I can't overcome is that both the turn signal lever, or hazard switch, apart from connecting the respective lamps to the flasher, they also provide current to the flasher. This is why turn signals work with the ignition on (switched +12V source to pin 49 of the flasher), while hazards operate anytime (constant +12V source to pin 49 of the flasher). All car alarm I have seen though, only have a single lead (that provides +12V) for the hazard circuit activation. If the flasher was not powered by the hazard switch, the alarm's lead could be used to trigger a relay that would simply bypass the hazard switch and connect the flasher to the lamps. How have you guys overcome this problem in your alarm installations? Thank you in advance!

baz, thank you for your response
I have a question though. According to the FSM, the turnsignal/hazard switches not only connect flasher's output, but also provide the input to the flasher (from a different fuse each one). So, following your recommendation, I suspect that the flasher will be powered, but it's output will not reach the lamps, because as the hazard switch will be at the off position, there will not be a physical connection between the flasher and the lamps. Am I wrong? (to be honest I wish I am, cause what you describe makes the installation a snap...)
