Turn signals and bulbs.

Here's one: I changed the left side marker bulb in my 73 GT, now the turn signal indicator on the left side comes on for a second, then both indicators come on, (they are very dim), and the signal does not work. Works fine on the right side. Did I screw something up? Also, does the 70 model GT not utilize the front signal indicators for running lights as well? I would need a double filament bulb without the offset contacts for this to work, but I don't know if these are even made. Thoughts?

It sounds like the very typical grounds problems on Opels. Check and renew all your various ground wires and I suspect the problem will go away. Ground wires are all BROWN.

You guys were right -- took a look at the ground wires, one was loose. Problem solved.

Which one was it? I've had this on and off and it's currently on and bugg'n me. I went so far as to pull the front blinker housings out just to re ground the screws (those are grounded through the housings, no?) I'll have to keep going.

It was the wire that goes into the back of the light housing. Also, the ground wire was smashed a bit between the car and the housing. I just checked to see if all the connections were tight, and one wasn't. It actually was working fine before I messed with it to change the side marker light. That was a bigger job than I had expected, because the bulb came apart and I had to take the whole lense out.

You can use the bulb housing from a later model, then you will need to run the wires for the parking lights and you'll also want to utilize the flasher from the later model also.
