My bet would be that a couple of the wires have been swapped on the rear of the headlights. I would also check the grounds which is probably not the problem since the high beams work.

Since high beams are OK your lamp grounds are good. I would measure voltage at the lamp socket with high beams on (high beam lamp terminal to ground) and then measure low beam voltage (low beam lamp terminal to ground). My guess is you have a high resistance on the low beam circuits somewhere. Check low beam voltage starting at the lamp working toward the headlamp relay and fuse panel. Good luck. Let us know what you find.

Mine were the same way until I put the bosch relays on. Check the forum for the procedure- made a world of difference in the light output.

More than likely it is bad contacts inside the relay. Take it out, open it up and check the contacts. There is a good chance you can just file the contacts clean and fix your problem.

Did you have all the wires loose from the conectors? if so you might have changed the ground wire and the high beam wire, that is why you got a great high beam light and a pathetic low beam because the low beam current has to go thru the low beam and the high beam filament and then to the ground, in a way you have the low and high beam lights in serie so that each lamp only gets 6 volts instead of 12 volts

and have to clean them again in a few months

If the relais doesn't work good buy a new one, for the few bucks those things cost.
