Unanswered: Blinker Wiring Question

I am putting the harness back into my GT and ran into a small problem.
The blinker wires, according to the schematic are Black/Green and Black/White and I have those two wires, but they are too short to reach the blinker housings. The marker light wires Gray/Red and Grey/Black are in sheaths along with a Brown wire that has double connectors on it, and they are long enough to reach the blinker housings. I know the Brown wires are ground. Question is, what are the proper connection points for these wires. It seems simple, but the wire lengths don't make sense. Are there connection "pigtails" that I am missing?

Jeff, I'm guessing you're talking about the front turn signal wires. Both of them come out of the harness shielding before they go through the structure the headlights and marker lites go through. The wires go to the inside of the headlite bucket structure alongside the "frame" rails to the lites. HTH.

That is what I thought, but with the harness positioned properly so that all the branches go where they have to, the blinker light wires don't reach. Also, there should be another wire, which is a running light wire that runs to both the side marker and the other filament in the blinker housing, but there isn't anything that I have to connect that either, I am confused. This darn problem is stopping me from assembling the head lights, I want the wiring figured out first, then I want to do a one shot install of the buckets, no paint chips for me, I hope.

Jeff, I just pulled the curved marker lite on the driver's side and there is a piggy back female lug (male and female end) that goes to that lite and a jumper, with female lugs on both ends, makes a u-turn back through the shielding then goes to the turn lite from there, alongside the turn lite wire. IDK what to say about the turn lite wires, unless you've got them routed wrong. On Willit? the turn lite wire for the driver's side splits off by the MC and goes to the lite. I couldn't tell on the pax side, my air cleaner duct is in the way.

Thanks for looking, at least I know about the jumper, that's what I thought there needed to be. Guess I will have to look at the routing. I know the drivers side is exactly as you describe, right next to the MC and all of the branches fit really sweet between all the bent metal retainers, seems like I have it perfect but hey, it's an OPEL .

Masking Tape

Don't forget to put plenty of painter's masking tape around the rim of the headlight hole before trying to fit the headlight buckets - and remove the tape ASAP so that it does not 'weld' itself on to the paint!

Good point Jim, and also put tape on the edge of the buckets too. A double layer, one on the car and the bucket edge will help keep both from getting dings. Don't ask how I know.

I was planning on taping everything, I am very concerned about chipping the paint because it is very thick. I also decided that I must have a European instruction sheet for the new wiring harness that I have. I am ignoring what it says about colors and going with what works. The wire that goes to the blinker/running light has three wires in it, but not the proper colors. It does not make any sense to run a single wire to a housing that requires three wires. The single wire has to be the one for the corner marker. I may have to change some of the wiring at the plugs on the fuse box, but so be it, I will just be one of those PO's that some guy will be cursing 50 years from now when they are rebuilding the car again, and the wire colors don't match the schematic.

Jeff, here's a sneaky trick I did on Willit? Cut about a foot of the original wire off the end, then splice your extension wire in between the original wires. After you cover the splice with tape or shielding, no one will know it isn't the original wire.

I thought about that, but the problem was the number of wires. I need 3 to the blinker housing and the original 1 to the marker. Then I have to add wires anyway because of the LED lights I put inside the marker housing which now will be both a marker and a blinker also. It just seems easier to do what I am planning. I have to make sure there are no splices until the fuse box so that I don't have half of my markers blinking or feedback current from some other light that will not allow the blinkers to blink.

Just a thought. Is this a new harness? Could it be made for a european GT? In Europe the blinkers are where the US cars has the corner markers, and the two round lamps under the bumper (where US cars have the blinkers) is park light/high beam.

This is what I think, since all the instructions are in German. That is why I am changing things to be the way they work best.

I decided what to do about this problem. Since I am using the side markers as both markers and blinkers I am running all the wires to the side markers. I am creating a branch from there of all three wires (blink, running, ground) and running it down to the blinker/running light housing. It comes out looking like factory since I wrapped the new harness I made in black electrical tape.
