Unanswered: Fitting Side Marker Lenses

My 71 GT has been rear ended long ago and fixed very well. But the side marker lights (parallelogram shaped) won't fit. I was thinking about filing down the red plastic lip and then relying on the metal clips to hold it down. Can anyone tell me if this is a terrible idea?

Also: what is the napa or autozone part number for the license plate light?

Conrad, the rear running lites are sealed to the body by a foam gasket. The body of the lite should slide into the hole and the two clamps hold them in place. IDK if I would shave the plastic, but rather the hole perimeter. That way, if you need to replace the lites later on they replacements would fit and you wouldn't have to shave them again. Also the license plate lites are standard #97 lites available at any auto parts store. HTH.
