    Headlight High Beam

Ok. If you were explaining this to a first time driver: How do you turn the brights on. I have tried the turn signal lever and feel no click as well as nothing hapens. But not sure if that really is how to do it. Thanks

yes, unless it is an early model 69 some of those have a push button on the end of the turn signal arm the rest flip forward or back with turn signal lever to change from hi to low beams

If everything seems to be going well you have obviously overlooked something.

It's been awhile but I don't remember feeling a click. If your hearing is half way decent you should be able to hear the relay click if you're listening for it. So the low beams work, you just can't switch them? It could be worse they could be stuck on high and every driver you encountered would be cursing you.

That's the way mine (no 69 though) have worked too. You pull the turn signal lever towards you to engage the high beams and pull it again to to turn them off.

Pulling the stick toward you is just a momentary contact and for the most part makes no "click" at all. The special relay that Opel uses for the high/low beam has a latching mechanism in it, sort of like a bathroom cabinet door that you have to push to latch and then push it again to unlatch. If you can't get high beams and you don't hear a click from the relay then either you have a wiring problem or you have a bad relay.

    Relay

    Thanks.
What one is the relay? I assume its the one in the middle with 7 contacts. Is that correct or is it the one on the side with 5? Also can I jump the relay to test it? And if so, how. Thanks again.

It is the 5 contact one. Lower left corner of this schematic, and attached picture. Put 12 Volts on the point indicated and then touch the negative side to the ground location indicated and then relay should cycle from hi to lo and vice versa. HTH
