Unanswered: high beam flasher

Hello listers,
Made my first real x-country with the wagon a few weeks ago.
(just over the hill to Reno for the Super Bowl at my brothers' place.)
Because the slow lane of I-80 is one step above a gravel road most
everybody cruises in the fast lane. It'd be nice to wake them up
to the fact they have a little car coming up hard on their rearend.
This got me wondering if anybody here has attempted to hook up
a high beam flasher system ala autobahn. Is there already a tap
on the flasher stem that can be used? Has anybody tried this?
Just wondering. Thanks.
Don.

Our "old" Opels don't have it, and no aftermarket kit is known to me for it. You mean something to just pull on the high-beam switch to switch in on momentarily, and to push it away from you to actually switch them on? In fact, that's something you see on the German Autobahn every other minute. It makes me go

Not exactly but if you pull and hold the turn signal lever it will flash both high and low beams at the same time. Granted you will switch the headlights from high to low or low to high but when held you do get both.

That sounds suspiciously like the WigWag used on emergency vehicles. Flip the switch and the beams go to high on one side of the car. Then the two sides reverse.

Yeah, Dieter knows of what I speak. In Germany people are actually paying attention to their driving and will notice someone in their rearview mirror requesting they move aside. Over here people get upset because you've awaken them out of their stupor and asked them to get out of the way.
Usually I slide into the slow lane and make the pass on the right. I reckon that would be my biggest gripe, people parked in the fast lane, not a soul in the right lane, and there they sit, asleep, doin' 64mph. Ahh, it's good to vent.

Back to the thread, on my M-B, with lights off, if I pull on the turn signal
stem the high beams will come on, when I let loose of the stem the lights
go off. That's what I'm talkin' about. It's also a cool way to say "howdy"
to another Opel if and when I ever see one coming the other way. Guess
I'll have to just wave.
Thanks all,
Don.
