![]() They are currently running a special. Buy two sets and they'll give you a third set.

LED Trailers lights
That must be an old mag. as they are less than $10.00 now.
Dennis, (NHOpel) had a pair of LED bulbs in his GT. They are very directional and were no too visible unless you are level with the lights. As we were leaving the Import Show in Carlisle, he purchased two 4" dia LED trailer lights at a truck stop. There was a huge difference in his lights after he installed the LED into the GT housing. he wants to get 2 more for the taillights. |

I found a site after posting, pricing them at $25 ea. Others have made comments about similar looking 1157 replacement types, I figured they would be very directional and would need to be augmented with extra LED's to be safe. At less than $10/ea. that must be near mfg. costs. Reckon JJ could use the base for his LED's and make something that would REALLY work? My understanding about his winker system is that they automatically flash every time and it isn't related to the urgency of the situation. Harold |

I put LEDs in my tailights and they are really bright and pretty omnidirectional. Now, they aren't 1157 bulbs but rather LED strips that I wound around the perimeter of the lens and stuck in with 3m double sided tape. I just left the original bulb in the socket and added these LEDs.
http://www.opelgt.com/forums/196726-post39.html They are pretty bright in the daylight too, I'll try to get a photo of that uploaded. |

I have decided that I'm going to make my own LED lighting for the back of the GT.
I'm going to buy some reflective plastic and drill the proper holes to add a 10mm super bright LED with the retainer ring. The LEDs I get are prewired so I will just gang the wires together and add a harness connector. I will mount these inside the taillights somehow (not sure yet how). All in all, each tail light should be about $5 out of pocket and the 10mm LEDs are VERY bright so it should work out great. I will probably add in some 5mm LEDs for the running lights.

10x 12V DC 20cm PRE WIRED 10mm Super Bright RED LEDS - eBay (item 400061584266 end time Jul-18-09 12:43:27 PDT) You can either use a holder/insert to put it into the reflective plastic like this 20x 10mm Plastic Black LED Holder Boat Display Panel - eBay (item 290330800958 end time Jul-15-09 00:21:06 PDT) Or you can just drill the correct size hole for the LED and use acrylic cement to bond them to the reflective plastic. The plastic I am using is acrylic and I thik the LEDs might be acrylic as well. Either way, it bonds great.
