Hi can anyone tell me what the white dashboard warning light means, when it comes on (1973 Opel gt) Would appreciate the owners manual page for the others if this is possible!!!!

Cheers

Rob

PS fitted new Weber card: Car starts, brakes work, Car no longer stalls, the list just goes on: If in doubt, dump the Solex!!!!!

The white indicator light should come on when the headlights are not fully open or fully closed. I heard it described as a "headlight bucket ajar" light. I'll see if I can find the page in the service manual that describes the lights in the indicator lamp cluster.
Cheers,

When the headlight buckets latch in they open a microswitch that controls this indicator light. When the buckets are not latched, the microswitch is closed turning on the light.

Thanks folks for your help, it is much appreciated. I finally got the car running with the aid of a new Weber. I saw the white light blazing away, but decided to take the car for a short run. I did not want to damage the car but I thought the oil etc was all good for go. I am still trying to get hold of the manual but the warning light cluster page would be good just to know if there is a problem and what it is. Most of the other stuff is fairly self explanatory.

Once again thanks for your help.

The '73 Owners Manual comes up on eBay a good bit. Also, AutoLit.com ... The Leader in Automobile Literature sells them usually. One day when I was really bored I felt like messing around in MS Paint and came up with the photo at this link. It explains all the indicators and other dash items (even the obvious ones ).

HTH,

Matt

You got me Harold! I'm pretty careful about my grammar and spelling on forums - I don't believe even Tekenaar has corrected one of my posts yet. You da man!
