Unanswered: Blinker switch plug (signal double blink fix)
Second question: Is it a good modification to change to a two prong blinker switch? Does any two prong work, or is there a specific one recomended?

Blinker Thingie
JJ Wheatly makes a blinker 'fix-it' kit too that eliminates the GT "double blink" problem and up grades the system.
Good question about which end the drawing views the wires from - needs a bit of investigation......

Liz, I just checked Willit?'s instrument panel and the plug in question is shown, on JJ's schematic, looking from the bottom where the wires go into the plug. In the notes on the schematic he suggests mods for either a 2 or 3 pin flasher willl work. Which ones IDK, I'm still using the original 4 pin in Willit?, at least it worked 12+ years ago. HTH.

Thanks everyone! My wires are in backwards then (lower two). Could this be why my turn signals don't work?

Liz, look at the schematic closely, you'll see that the pins are oriented such that the wires should only go in one way with the horizontal pin being closest to the instrument panel, or the bottom of the plug, and the Brown wire, looking it the bottom of the plug, goes on the right side. That puts the Black/Red wire on the left side, the two Black/White/Green wires in the horizontal pin and the Black/Yellow wire opposite the horizontal pin on top. HTH.

I don't have the drawing in front of me and a socket, but I am sure I would have
drawn the flasher socket as looking down onto it: flasher insert side, that is. (In my minds eye, I can not 'see' the bottom view of the socket.) I will check when I get home, as I have a dash IP out and will make a note on the drawing . If I am not correct in what I am saying here, I will repost Monday. Note the plug and receptacles of the fuse box, I addressed just that issue there to aid troubleshooting or rewiring. JJ |

So I take it any 3 prong with the prongs in the right places will work? Does anyone recommend a specific one?

Wonderful ....
The indicators on GTs are another of their wonderful 'features' !
I just rounded up several three pronged blinker units from old Rovers and found that a Lucas one worked well. There are many threads on the subject accessible by putting 'Double Flash' into the search box. This seems to be the most comprehensive one: http://www.opelgt.com/forums/1c-ligh...t=Double+flash

Moderators, is there a way to put a sticky on that thread? Or put it into a tech article? It is valuable info on a common topic!

Speaking of blinker thingy's take a look at what we found. Amazing how all the power had been routed to one side of the fuse box so carefully covering the melted parts. Finally we found one of the gremlins.
