    DESTEC Schematic

I just got an early XMAS or late B-Day present from J.J. Wheatley, a personalized, made just for me, with my name on it, latest revision (M) DESTEC schematic. The note that came with it, was to thank me for saying "nice things" about his drawing. First, lemmee publicly thank him, here, on the site, for the gift. Second, and I believe others that have his schematic will concur, I will tell anyone if I feel a product is good, in this case, it is outstanding.

Now, for a recap of the latest changes, that he annotated in his note.
The parking brake switch is clearer and now shows actuation with a brake pedal.
The Dimmer relay is slightly larger, so the contacts show up better.
The windshield wiper switch was added on the lower left corner of the schematic.
The parking lite switch and dimmer switch now have an actuation feature.
The hazard lite switch was expanded for more clarity and red/green text added to show operation.
The turn signal switch is now rectangular to be different than the ignition switch.
The ignition switch is now twice as large for more clarity.
The fuse box is larger showing the connections better.
The blower motor now has the resistors added.
The headlight plugs are now shown so wiring them is not by guess and by golly.
There are tables showing the ohm values equating to gage indication of the oil, water, and gas gages and he tells you which connectors and pins to use for the VOM probes.

What can I say? Well, how about this, We all value the wisdom and expertise of Bob L. (RallyBob) as far as engines are concerned. I feel J.J.(DESTEC) belongs in the same company as far as the electrical system goes on the GT.

I don't see how he can keep finding things to tweak, but he does. I have the K version and am happy with it but I'll have to get a newer one sometime just because....

Harold, even though he doesn't frequent the site as often as some, he has noted some disparities in the threads and updated the schematic accordingly. The brake switch thread of a couple weeks ago is an example, as is the more prominent buss bars in the fuse panel. INMHO the only thing missing, in order to cover all models of the GT is the early headlight indicating system, but that's just me trying to help folks that have that system. Willit? has the newer 3 microswitch setup, along with an additional 13 fused C/B) circuits.

I'm also very happy with the DESTEC wiring diagram (mine is revision L). It's definitely the best available. The amount of detail is astonishing. The notes are also an invaluable help. The diagram has helped me to fix a number of electrical problems I had when I bought my Opel GT a few months ago, so it was well worth the money!

I ordered this schematic about 6 months ago. It's outstanding! Everyone should have one.
