Unanswered: Can Sportwagon gauges be added to Ascona without adding wires??

I kept the three gauge panel from my 74 Sportwagon when I got rid of it years ago. Now I have a 74 Ascona two door. Is the wiring already in there or will I have to run new lines for the ammeter, oil pressure etc? I know most domestic cars have only one wiring harness regardless of the options ordered. Will I need a new oil pressure sender too? Thanks.

You will have to run the wire.

You will need the oil pressure sender as well. Its the same as the GT..

As for wiring.. if memory serves.

Run a 10ga for the Ammeter from the starter lug to the Ammeter and back to the alternator lug.

Tap it for the power for the clock

Run a wire from the radio (Keyed hot) to the oil sending unit, then a wire from the oil sending unit to the gauge and the wire thats there for the oil idiot light should go to a seperate connection on the oil pressure sending unit.

Page 12.. basically.. what I said but I did forget:

Splice the gray wire off the dash lights or the light for cigarette lighter for your gauge lights and you may already have the ground for it..

Basically you run a wire from the three gauges to a screw at the body.

The wire to the oil pressure gauge to the of the oil sending unit goes to the gauge connection with a thumb screw on it, the existing wire will go to the other connection.
