Unanswered: tachometer:red-black wire?

I am refinishing an ebay opel tachometer to replace my current fogged and fadded tach.It will be saw-weet when I am done.

there are 4 wires in the back of the tach
1-grey wire is pos for the bulbs
2-brown is case ground
3-green is coil wire
here is my question:
4- what is the red-black ? I have tried to trace it on my destec diagram..makes no sense.

On the back of your tach you should have places for three wires to be plugged it, excluding the lights. Two are side by side and 1 is in a line with them but off to one side. That is your black with red, it is a 12 v positive for the function of alot of the gauges in your dash. It goes to alot of things in the dash.
