Jordan, I don't have the schematics in front of me, but I believe there are four fuses that are hot with the key on and three that are powered by the lights. HTH.

Ron, you are right: 3 fuses are powered by either the parking lights switch or the HL relay. Fuse 4 is HOT all the time, ie, clock power.
fuses 5-7 are from the ignition switch. check the steering column connectors. Red wire goes to key switch, comes back down on a "HOT BLACK" wire. (seems odd to me). If the car cranks, it is probably the steering column connectors. jj |

J. J. Guess where I got that information? If I didn't have your schematic, I wouldn't have had the fun and games building my new harness and power panel. I still don't undertstand having the lights on both sides of the fuses though, it seems strange to me, still, but I guess it works, it has been for years.

the problem was I didnt have the headlights in, problem solved. It just seemed odd that its not hot at the fuse because you'd think it would go batt. fuse, switch, light. but I guess having it switched before the fuse makes an easy way to operate the things that are only on when the headlights are on, such as guage lights.

I had a problem one time where I had no power to the inside of the car.
Every thing hooked up power to one side of those four nuts on the fuse panel but not the other. Turned out to be the metal prong in the fuse box had burned threw. And that was the easy problem the next one was when you turned the right blinker light on the right rear stop light would flash. davegt27

Ron & Jordan: battery>HL Relay or PL Switch>lights
fuses 1-3 have (2) sources for power; but the lights are only on one side of the fuses. (inputs are on the bottom and outputs on top per my schematic which is a paraphrase of the one in the GT Service manual-- davegt27: that one should be easy; it MUST (he says) be miswired-- Like Pete Rose would say, "I'd bet." |

J. J., I didn't have your schematic in front of me when I responded to the original thread. I just remembered when I rewired the power panel, I thought it strange the lights were wired that way, in that there was no battery direct source to the fuses, the power came from somewhere other than a "main" power source, ie., ignition or direct from the battery. It appeared to me there were a few side streets in those circuits for the power source. What the hey, as long as it works.
