theres a nut on the bottom about 5 mm af , take it off and the cover will slip off so you can see inside , there are a few posts on repairs to the senders have a search for them , it covers cleaning in one or two of them

i did more searching and still came up with nothing. The problem i am having is i removed the tube from the sending unit and inside the tube is full of chunky grossness for lack of a better word. i was just curious if anyone new of a cleaning product or a trick to get all of the varnish and chunkies out of the tube itself.

Try combustion chamber cleaner or carb cleaner. Both can be found at most auto parts stores.
