Unanswered: Tach just quit

I just De-greased my engine (1.9L 71 GT)
Started engine to dry it off. Started and runs good. But the Tach
stays at Zero. I found a green wire that looks like it broke off of a
soldered connection.

My wiring prints shows the instrument lite for the tach but not the
signal wire. So I don't know if it is the green wire and if it is I don't know
where it goes.

Any Instrument tech out there.

There should be a green wire attached to the coil. If there isn't, and that green wire that broke off is close to the coil, then that is it.

That green wire runs from the distributor to the down-stream (negative) side of the coil. There is also a "T" connection between the coil and distributor, which feeds the tack.

On both GTs I've owned, some PO soldered the green wire onto the coil. It hung on through no fault of its own; was always fragile (must be Italian) looking. (Come to think of it, that rotten PO might well have been me) Anyway, I added a proper loop terminal last week.

So, look for connections (distributor, coil, and T connection in between).

Thanks Guys.
I don't know where the cold solder connection was but I crimped on a spade terminal and slipped it onto the negative (-) coil terminal and all is back to
normal again.

Thanks again.
