It appears to be some sorta relay. Hard to tell from external appearances though. I'm guessing the red wire is a power source, but can't really see the color of the wires missing the screw.

That's a thermal overlaod tied across what used to be a fuse location. The caption on the picture should read "look here for electrical gremlins the PO didn't fix". They are self reseting so if something in the car cuts in and out, you know why. At the least put the other screw back in.

That's a circuit breaker it is used in high amp draw circuits
like power windows / door locks & power seats , they are in 15 to 30 amps sizes . Some people use them on circuits that keep blowing fuses instead of fixing the problem. H.T.H. John

You can check to see which one of the wires is shorted (grounded) and go from there. I've seen it be as simple as someone reinstalling the lights and swapping the hot wire for the ground.
