Unanswered: Mystery Light (to me) on Kadett Dash

I've noticed on the Kadetts (seems with automatics) there is an Amber light on the left of the gauge cluster. My owners manuals do not specify what this light is or does. Could anyone fill me in. I only noticed it on the Autos in the catalog and pictures. 4 speeds do not have it.

Good Reason ...

I guess Opel felt that a warning light was neccessary for autos because with the emergency brake on the motor would just wind up against the stall speed of the convertor and all sorts of heat would be generated in the auto .... till is literally "cooked" ... or the driver noticed the GT was even slower than usual!

Nope, the Automatic GT has a warning light for the Emergency Brake (in the brake warning light cluster, IIRC, or was it the red light in the center dash cluster?), not found in the manual transmission GT.

Umm...my manual GT has a red light in the center cluster that works great when the emergency brake is on. It will also come on if I have a blown fuse in the system. It will light up but not as bright as the prkg light indicator.

Yes, but while true of GTs and not to stray too far further afield, the original question . . .

. . . was specifically about a Kadett's Amber light function, which I answered in the very next post . . .

I'll assume they started installing the switches in 1972 since your '71 model doesn't have one.
