Speedometer

I was reading the article about the speedometer. Is the W897 speedometer for 5 speed transmissions and the W1062 for the 4 speed. I am somewhat confused. My 69 came with the 1062 but I also have an 897 for parts. Any help is appreciated.

I'm not sure when the 5 speed transmissions were available but none of our Opels thru 1975 came equipped with them. After a quick search I found this link, http://www.opelgt.com/forums/145435-post14.html, hopefully it will answer most of your questions. There are references in this thread to which speedo should be used with the 5-spd transmissions also.
