Answered: gt instrument panel housing & gauges

what is the going price for a opel gt instrument panel housing with gauges?
A auto body shop in my neighborhood has the complete assembly and quoted me $150.00. looks in good condition except for one switch appears to be stuck. the indicator lamps are the round holes and my opel gt is a 69 with square holes. I need help in determining the value of this item.
thank you

Welcome to the site! Now do a WTB ad in the classified and probably get a good one for about half what you were quoted. Do you want an uncut one or are you planning on putting an aftermarket radio in and it doesn't matter if it has been cut on some?

If the switch that's "stuck" is between the parking light switch and the instrument panel light dimmer switch, it's supposed to be that way. That switch was only operational on euro GTs for fog/driving lights.

You might be able to find a good used panel on Ebay anywhere from $50 to $150, depending on bids and so on. Individual gauges and other parts are always available so you can buy and re-build your existing one if necessary.

I'm planning to rebuild and re-wire the panel on Stealth when the time comes. I'm going to install a set of Dolphin Quad gauges with a hood mounted tachometer; which I had from a previous project. The gauge pack contains an electronic speedometer to replace the original and a quad gauge with oil/temp/volts/fuel to replace the tachometer. The tachometer is mounted on the hood just like the '70s GTO so it is always in sight of the driver. This setup releases the three upper round gauge holes which I'm using for the A/C vents.

If your car has an instrument panel you can re-use, perhaps the easy way would be to repair the existing problem or refinish the panel and upgrade the gauges.
