Unanswered: Oil pressure unit

My oil pressure gauge goes to maximum when I turn on the ignition. At idle it shows about 3,5, but goes down (2,0) with higher rpm. What is wrong?

I switched them on the instrument, but the only thing that happend was that the pressure needle didn't work at all.

Has it always done this since you've had the car or is this something new? I new did you change or do anything that could have caused it?

As you well know the gauge should not show max. pressure just by turning the key to the run position. This usually is an indication that the wires have been hooked up incorrectly.
