Sounds like a cool idea, are you keeping the gauge pod original or going custom? You can just pull yours out and measure them, also check with each manufacture as they will no doubt have many different applications for their gauge styles. Many tachs have a switch on the back for 4,6 or 8 cylinders. Do you have a gauge style in mind? If so what is the website? Might be cool to see what you have in mind.

Analog Readout
Acctually i changed my mind, i will be going with Autometer Cobalt Analog Readout gauges to complement the accent lines of the car including blue around the bindings of the seats, blue stiching, and blue ring around the outside of the wheels.

Yes, they can do it. A few years ago, the guys at Dakota Digital said mine was the first Opel digital they had done. I sent them the stock opel gauges with the nicest chrome trim and glass I could find. They took out the innards and replaced them with the digitals. Comes with fuse box and electrical pigtail and all directions for calibration. I also sent them a stock plastic instrument panel so they could mock it up. It was pricey, but turned out very nice! The link should take you to a picture of the dash and gauges.

gauge options?
I have spent the evening scouring the search engine and the internet for gauge upgrades for the GT...with no such luck as of yet.
Has anyone out there installed new/different gauges in there car? If so, where did you find them? I can find 5" gauges for the tach and speedo, but the smaller ones seem to be a pain to find. I know they should be of the mechanical variety, but has anyone done electrical gauges? Just curious as to what some options may be. I mean, I am gonna need some sort of project this fall and winter... |

You could start with a new faceplate..
I had a 66 GTO that I took the plastic dash.. cut off all the mounting and "skirts" for the old gauges off the front and back. This left a flat area to work with.. Made pattern of the face, cut holes to fit stadanrd gauges, then cut a piece of metal out of the pattern to fit the front, screwed it to the front. Then I just mounted the gauges.. looked good and worked well.
