Well, someone on the Solstice forum decided to attempt a re-badge of the Pontiac Solstice into an Opel (instead of a Saturn Sky and probably not for the reasons you might think)...

I don't know - I'm not too keen on it even though I love the Opel brand. I found this post from the guy that did it interesting (I added the underlining):

You forgot to tell them that you have an original 1972 Opel GT undergoing a complete restoration (progress looks great!), hence your Opel background! So, until the "new" Opel GT is released state-side, this may as close as one might be able to get to an Opel GT(other than re-badging a Sky).

Thanks for the feedback! I think the restoration is going very well and I'm quite pleased. I think I will post over on the Solstice forum to this guy that he can complete the transformation by buying a vintage Opel GT hood ornament off eBay to replace the blacked out Pontiac logo. Let's see if he goes for that...

i'm thinking someone can't afford the new Opel GT so the bought a Pontiac solstice instead and put GT emblems on there!

Uh, we can't buy a GT here in the USA. Remember, they stopped selling German Opels here in 1975?

Saturn is actually the same price, pretty much, if you option up the Solstice to include what comes standard on the Sky. Test drove both last week, in fact, a Redline Sky and GXP Solstice and crunched numbers on both.

yes that was another thing i forgot to add...they stopped bringing Opel GT's to USA because of new laws and restrictions (from what i remember they needed bigger bumpers and a whole lot of things)
