New Opel GT "Sportiest" of Kappas

The Solstice needs new tires so I was doing research over on the Solstice forum and spotted this poll. Apparently, GM has made three options uniquely available to the Opel GT versus the other Kappa cars: performance brake pads, summer only tires, and a better antennae. I can tell you, the stock Solstice tires suck and I am so glad mine are near bald so I can get rid of them! The stock antennae was the first thing to go on my car as well...

How many Miles do you have on that Solstice. My tires are good to go for another three years or so. I just rolled over 4000 miles on my Solstice.

Did you mean 40K? I'm sitting at just under 30K miles and the rear tires look like racing slicks . She goes in tomorrow - going with some Toyo Versadas trying to balance dry and wet performance while still getting some kind of tread warranty. The local tire store says they put these on Crossfires and Corvettes and have gotten good reviews.

Wow - I've put more miles than that in the last 10 months on my Opel. At that pace, your stock tires will probably rot before the tread wears out .

I only get 20K at best out of my tires on the M3 but you can hardly call them garbage, they are just designed for grip not mileage. On the other hand if you are getting lousy mileage and lousy grip then that is a problem for sure.

But he's lucky - he has two GTs to spread the mileage over!

I should have been more specific, the stock Solstice tires are lousy in wet conditions - that's what has made me hate them. They're supposed to be all weather tires but they just didn't hold well at all on wet pavement. At times, it was like driving on ice!
