There's a bunch of threads searching under "Painting" and "Paint jobs" etc. It seems to me that it depends on what you want to do. If you can do a lot of the work youself that will help. The cost depends on what part of the country you're in too. Happy reading, there is quite a bit on it.

"Rattle Can"
Here is an excellent thread about a good quality DIY paint job:
http://www.opelgt.com/forums/2d-body...ghlight=rattle Dean did his first job on Celeste with ... rattle cans! This is a thread about cleaning it off and getting a better job done. The 'rattle can' job was a remarkably good "10-foot" paint job - BTW !!

Paint ain't cheap!
I just bought some PPG paint for my opel today: with reducers and such, it was over $600, and I'll still need more clearcoat. Add to that a shop's overhead and supplies (sandpaper, etc.) and you can see why good paint jobs start at $2K

1 Day Paint and Body does a good job on the PLUS 4. It looks like factory when its done. It costs about $1400. http://www.1daypaint.com/1daypaintsystems.html It was recomended to me by a guy that restores cars for a living. He also said that if you tip the supervisor before the job and a little after then he will more than likely put a little extra work into it. Definately try to bring the car in stripped so they can do a better job, even if they don't charge you less.

What is really frightening is their paint 'kits' - in the picture it comes with a cheap-o dust mask!!! I hope nobody actually just uses that when they apply auto paint!jtb |
