Also check where the striker hits the latch. You may have to move the latch up or down. This is accomplished by loosening the screws/bolts that hold the latch to the body. You will need to use one of the 3 peculiar type torx (for lack of a better word), tools needed for work on the Opels. There is a thread/post that lists the 3 needed for most major jobs. I can't remember the name for them at the moment, although I'm sure someone will chime in with the name. Hth somewhat, Jarrell

Tri-square ...
Sounds like your door hinge pins have worn allowing the door to sag and the latches to mis-align. I reamed my hinges out with a 11/32" (Chevy size) K-Line valve guide reamer and replaced the pins with ones custom turned from hi-tensile Allen head cap screw shanks (10mm or 3/8" will do) ..... worked like a charm.
OH! The GT hinges have GREASE NIPPLES on them - the occassional squirt of grease helps a lot. The door hinges have Allen head (hex head) caps that hold them on too - not "Tri-Square" or "12-Point"- at least on my GT.

My bet would be the alignment of the striker and the door latch. I had the same problem. You should be able to tell if the door catch needs to go up or down based on where all of this slamming is showing wear on the catch in the door jamb. The catch also moves in and out a bit I believe to adjust how tight the door closes. It is such an easy adjustment that once you do it and the door glides shut, you'll wonder why you waited so long to do it! I don't have to tell my wife, "Don't slam the door!" everytime she gets in or out of the car anymore!
