Unanswered: mirror question

I have a spare door mirror that is an original Opel part but the base is longer than the base of the mirror on my car and the mounting screws are futher apart. It has a part number 9083 2881544. It looks identical to mine otherwise.

Are the door mirrors different by year?

Regards,

Eric Hoffman

I may be wrong, of course, but are you sure that is the part number?
From 1968-1973 Opel and GT parts book:

69-71 All GT............1428132 LH 7.10 MIRROR, outside rr. view w/mtg. parts

72-73 All GT............1428152 LH 7.10 MIRROR, outside rr. view w/mtg. parts

So there are 2 different part numbers, but I don`t know what the difference is.
