Unanswered: Under hood rubber weather strip question

Hello,

I am having a problem with the rubber weather strip that goes across the car from driver side to passenger side, just above the fire wall, and behind the hood latches. I purchased a new strip from OGTS because the old one was missing.

MY PROBLEM: With the rubber strip installed the hood will not close and latch shut no mater how I push down on the hood, it will not latch. So if I remove the rubber strip, the hood will close and latch however the hood is low and hits the windshield wipers. So I prefer to have the rubber installed and have the hood shut correctly. Has anyone had any experience with this and is their an adjustment to make this work correctly.

Thanks for the help

Tom

Hood strip

How did you trim it, from the bottom that attaches it to the car body, or the top that mates with the hood?????

At the firewall Are two brackets with 10mm bolts , just loosen and raise bracket up ( adjust both sides ) .HTH

the problem i had with trying to adjust the latch bar was the fact that once i got it to be somewhat ok, the hood still stuck up higher then it should...back when i had this problem, i called ogts and they just told me to trim it from the top and that made it perfect.

It sounds like both operations (adjusting and triming) may have to be performed. Thanks for the replies.....

Luckily I installed mine when it was about 115 degrees outside (only about 110 in the garage!!) so it sorta molded to the shape it needed to......no adjustment necessary.
